Principal’s Message

principal

My name is Julie Cares ([email protected]) and I am the proud principal of North County High School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the NCHS website. Here you will find information about our top notch academic and athletic programs. Check back often to see announcements related to upcoming events, kudos for students and staff and even a graduation day count down for the Class of 2016. If you don’t find what you need here, please call the school at (410) 222-6970.

At North County High School we ask our students to STAND Tall. This means that they are Studious, Thoughtful, Accountable, Noble and Determined in all that they do. We believe that every student brings a unique and valuable presence to our school. It is our expectation that before graduating from high school, every student take an Advance Placement or Dual Credit class through Anne Arundel Community College. Our goal is for all students to achieve academic eligibility for sports and extracurricular activities and that we increase our scholarship number past the 14 million dollar mark reached by the Class of 2015.

NCHS is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Magnet school. Our students are internationally and nationally recognized award winners including 1st Place at the Intel International Science Fair and 1st Place at the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge. We have an IT3 Signature Program which focuses on real world learning and application of ideas. Students in this program can earn 16 credits from Anne Arundel Community College in Transportation and Logistics. We are currently the only school in AACPS offering dual credit to 11th grade students. Additionally, we have a flourishing Advanced Placement Program and Technology Education Program. We also have a full time Evening High School which is the only EHS in the county where students can take classes for original credit. North County High School is continuing to pave a path to excellence with innovative and differentiated programming. This year we will pilot a virtual classroom to provide additional classes to AP and STEM students as well as credit recovery for those students looking to get back on track.

In the past three years, we have opened up our school to many outside institutions including AACC which hosts a variety of classes here in the evenings and the Performance Arts League of Anne Arundel County. We have held many AA County and AACPS events and will continue to work towards our goal of creating a true community school at NCHS. I invite you to visit our school and see the amazing accomplishments of our students.

STAND Tall!
